Patient Of The Month: January 2020

Pauline has been coming to Not Just Backs for well over 15 years now. She is seen by Tom every two weeks in our Wilton Practice. We're absolutely delighted to announce her as our Patient of the Month for January. We caught up with her to find out more about her story...

Where is the pain or discomfort?

I suffer from Fibromyalgia, but I also injured my shoulder in a fall three years and I find that the nerves can easily become irritated. My back can also be very sore at times.

What made you decide to seek help from Osteopathy?

I first saw a chiropractor in Belgium where my daughter was living, and he said that under no circumstances should I have my back clicked and that osteopathy would be a tremendous help. That was when I first found Rhian and Not Just Backs, and subsequently Tom who I see on a regular basis.

What do you think is the key to Osteopathy for you?

Taking Rhian’s initial advice about the importance of being seen regularly and therefore my condition is managed, along with any new problems that might arise rather than waiting until I am in a lot of discomfort.

Did Tom or Rhian recommend any treatment from a different angle?

Yes, Tom recommended I saw my GP to rule out any other cause for  my pain, he also treats me regularly with acupuncture which is really effective.

What is the most beneficial aspect of your treatment?

The most obvious one is maintaining good movement, and keeping any pain under control.

Is there anything you would like to say to Tom?

Yes, 'what would I do without you!?’ Plus, of course, a huge thank you.

Would you have anything you would like to say to someone reading this who is perhaps undecided about Osteopathy?

Go For It! But, also, the key, in my opinion, is regular maintenance appointments even if you think you feel alright.
